Felix Ruckert is a dancer, choreographer and conceptual artist. His experimental dance pieces and installations, his participatory work, but also his choreographies for ballet companies earned him an international reputation.

For the last fifteen years he has also been involved in a practical and theoretical investigation of BDSM and he explores connections between BDSM techniques and artistic practices, developing an art and philosophy of sensual communication.

Felix Ruckert practices Shibari – Japanese Rope Bondage since 1999. He started as an autodidact, but soon met Matthias T.J. Grimme, Shadow and Osada Steve.

In 2007 he opened schwelle7 Berlin which quickly became an important hub for the international Rope Community. At schwelle 7 Felix developed the concept of the Bondage Jam as a concentrated free practice and regularily invited masters from Japan to teach. Therefore he also had the chance to study with Arisue Go, Hajime Kinoko, Nawashi Kanna, Otonaya Otonawa, Ren Yagami and Akira Naka.

Felix soon started to develop his on eclectic style, focussing on instant composition and creative solutions and mentored, inspired and encouraged many emerging rope artists such as Dasniya Sommer, Gorgone, Andy Buru, Mathis d’Arc.
Since 2015, twice a year, in April and October Felix also curates EURIX – The European Rigger&Model Exchange at Holzmarkt, Berlin, which brings together the finest of European rope artists in an open space conference – to share innovations in technique, style and teaching. Part of EURIX is also a performance program called ROPE ARTISTS INTL.
